And welcome to our newly re-designed website!

At LBDA, we understand that though many families are affected by Lewy body dementia, most of the general public (including much of the medical profession) is not even aware that LBD exists. Dr. Tom Grayboys recently chronicled his personal story about Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia in his new book, Life in the Balance. LBDA would like to thank Dr. Graboys for courageously sharing his story on Good Morning America on Wednesday, June 25, 2008.

Is someone you know experiencing unpredictable changes in their memory or in how they think or make decisions? Perhaps they are experiencing stiffness or problems walking, are seeing things that aren’t real, or are having frightening nightmares. If so, they might have Lewy body dementia.

You’re not alone if the word dementia makes you cringe. But did you know that dementia actually refers to a symptom, not a disease? Simply put, it means ‘a decline in mental functions that affects daily living.’ So when a person lives with dementia, they (and those around them) will need to adapt to changing abilities. We’ve created our homepage to help LBD families quickly understand the basics about LBD and prepare for some of those changes ahead.

Here are some helpful materials to print out and read at your convenience.
