Take Time for Pause

Wow! 2021 is flying by and it is difficult to believe that we are now in May and are celebrating Mother’s Day!

When the world seems to move this fast and life can feel chaotic, it can be an important reminder to practice a pause. Many of us fail to do just this – instead, living our lives in a constant swirl of activity mentally, physically, spiritually, and in our responsibilities. However, especially with the stress of this past year, we have an increased need for a pause when possible.

One technique used to slow the mind involves finding things around you that include each of the 5 senses – finding things around you in that moment that you can smell, touch, taste, hear, and see.

What are 5 things that you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste? Doing this simple mental exercise can bring you back to the present moment and to your current surroundings with a bit more mindfulness.

These temporary stops can be brief moments for us to rest, reflect, realign, and breathe – things we all could use a little more of any time!
