Registered Nurse and caregiver for 48 residents and families.

I have care for residents and their families for the last 18 years. I am the one who follows the resident to the Emergency Room. Through the years I have grown to become disenchanted and sadden by the lack of knowledge and empathy. I can forgive neither. I believe that dignity is only afforded and never negotiated. I find that the ER is void of knowledge but I am afraid this is true for most ERs in our nation. So I have made it my mission to educate every doctor, nurse and caregiver. I dream of revolutionizing the delivery of care in the future.
Please help me do just that. Help me get a learning center here in the central valley.

I want to end the mediocrity we have due to lack of knowledge. I often find myself reminding the doctor to step outside the resident’s room as we discuss his ignorance of Lewy Body dementia. I also need to be firm and insist on a U/A be done to rule out an infection. many doctors still believe that in order to diagnose LBD, the residents has to die first and then dissect his brain. Subsequently doctors end up ordering the wrong medications which make the resident compromised condition worse.

Thank you for your time.

Please email me if you would like me to start a chapter here or perhaps tell me how I can start one.

sincerely,

Esperanza Hansen, RN
