LBD Takes on Ironman

Lisa is passionate about health and fitness and has always participated in marathons. She was inspired by her father's LBD diagnosis to take her passion to the next level by participating in the Ironman Triathlon.

She is preparing for her most rigorous feat yet. She follows a strenuous regimen of waking up at the crack of dawn and working out. Her workouts are a rotation of swimming 2-2.5 miles, biking 20-60 miles and jogging 5-20 miles. She trains for about 10 to 12 hours a week. Her Ironman goals are to raise awareness and funds to fight LBD in support of her father.

Her dad was diagnosed six or seven years ago. Though the experience is saddening, it brought her family closer together. Her stepmother has been the primary caregiver for her father during these trying times. Lisa is very appreciative of what her step mom has done for her him.

Lisa's advice for those affected by LBD is to learn everything about the disease, plan for the future as early as possible, and spend time with the people you love. She also advises that caregivers encourage their loved ones living with LBD to stay active and healthy.
