How to Find and Participate in Clinical Trials: Practical Advice & Real-World Examples

March 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Clinical trials can be a mystery. How do I find a study that is right for me or my loved one? What do I need to know about participating in trials? Will I get a placebo? How do I find out more about a study?

Many people who are curious about participating in clinical trials struggle with knowing where to start or have legitimate concerns about what it’s like to be in a study. This webinar will give you a peek “behind the curtain” and practical advice for finding and participating in research that is right for you.

LBDA Director of Scientific Initiatives, Keith N. Fargo, PhD, will give an overview of different kinds of studies that are seeking people with Lewy body dementia (LBD), share some tips for finding research you can participate in, and explain some terms to know when considering a study—all using real-world examples.

In addition, you will hear directly from people who have participated in clinical research. They will share their personal experiences and answer questions about what research participation involved for them.

At the end of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Identify one reliable source of information about currently enrolling clinical research studies for people with DLB.
  • List two kinds of clinical research, with one being interventional clinical trials.
  • Recall the name of at least one of the real-world example studies used in the webinar content.
