Exercise plays a crucial role in supporting individuals living with Lewy body dementia (LBD), by promoting muscle strength and improving balance, which may reduce the risk of falls. Exercise is also linked to improved mood and emotional well-being by boosting serotonin levels, helping to lessen common LBD symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and apathy.
In this Wellness Workshop, Dr. Joellyn Fox, physical therapist, will discuss the benefits of exercise for those living with LBD and lead attendees through exercises to practice at home. Dr. Fox will discuss the benefits of exercise and the precautions needed to support exercising safely. Following the live presentation, Dr. Fox will lead guided video exercise sessions to be featured on the Lewy Learning Center for use at home.
