Resilience plays a vital role for people living with dementia and their care partners. For people living with dementia, resilience helps you adapt to the challenges posed by cognitive decline and changes in daily life. It helps care partners adapt to the challenges of caring for them, maintain emotional balance and find effective coping strategies. Resilience empowers you to face each day with courage, adaptability and emotional strength.
Mindfulness practice fosters resilience by allowing one to be fully present in the moment, navigate challenges with clarity and approach care with compassion. Practicing mindfulness involves focusing on the present moment, which can lead to improved emotional resilience and reduced stress.
Join Angela Lunde, Program Manager at the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, for a discussion on how mindfulness helps identify unique struggles and creates a path of resilience through acceptance and mindful practices. Angela will lead participants through some brief mindfulness exercises and provide resources to support engagement in mindfulness at home.
