Post New- Daughter
My dad was diagnosed with LBD in 2015. Since then, he has been steadily declining. He has trouble with every day tasks, is angry, and very paranoid. The doctors treated his hallucinations with medications and it took them away but made his behavior way worse than it already was. My dad is not a small man, not fat or anything but just stout. He is getting harder and harder to deal with and we are just not sure where to go from here.

Last week he was admitted to the psychological unit due to his behavior, and the fact that the doctors wanted to try and change his medication. They had him on Nuplazid, Seroquel, Klonopin, and at one point had him on Zoloft, and then tried Celexa.

After his stay in the psych unit he is now only taking the Nuplazid (for the hallucinations, it does not work, I am not sure why they keep him on this medication.) The Seroquel did work with taking away his hallucinations but it caused him to be very tired and agitated. Since they took him off of the anti-depressant/anxiety medication it seems he is doing worse than he was, but when the Seroquel stopped his mood improved slightly.

On Saturday of last week (11/11) he was okay, not great but at this point he never is anymore. He was alert and able to walk, had muffled speech but was behaving as expected. Sunday (11/12), everything changed. That is the day he went into the psych unit. He could not even walk anymore. It was like overnight, he lost everything he had. Since coming out of the psych unit (they only kept him for 3 days) he really has not improved very much as far as motor function goes.

Is this the end of any trace of my dad? What do we need to do from here? I'm not sure we can afford a nursing home, but I know that my mom cannot do this alone. I am in law school and trying to help when I can but I feel like she needs more direction.
