Post Surgery and LBD
My mom has been diagnosed with LBD. Her geriatric doctor had told us two years ago when I questioned her about my mom having cataract surgery that under no circumstances should my mom have surgery requiring general anesthesia unless it was life threatening. My mom fell this morning and broke her hip. She was taken to the emergency room of a local hospital. She has also been diagnosed with pneumonia too. The orthopedic doctor wants to do a hip replacement. I plan to call the geriatric doctor in the morning but was wondering if anyone else has any information to share regarding anesthesia and LBD patients.

Go to the top of this page and click on "Search." Enter in "anesthesia" as a key word.

In particular, look at these posts:

But there are many more.

I just found this post and have PM'd you. Please don't let them give her Ketamine. I had this same thing happen with my Dad and he never came out of the anesthesia. His neuro had said spinal block only and the anesthesiologist used other meds anyway.
