Post ECT and LBD any success?
Hi--I am new to forum. My mom has either LBD or Frontal-temporal dementia. Based on what I have read and researched I am convinced she has LBD. My mom is EXTREMELY delusional and having auditory hallucinations. We have been unable to tease out if she is having visual hallucinations are not--at times she is able to describe her hallucinations but usually she is projecting her delusion onto a real person.

At any rate, antipsychotics have had no effect other than to cause permanent tremor in her jaw. She is also extremely depressed. Her delusions and hallucinations torment her without relief. Exelon and remeron are not helping her. Her psychiatrist is recommending Electroconvulsive Therapy as there are no further medications he would recommend.

Has anyone tried ECT and if you have any help relieving delusions or hallucinations?

Treatment wise I feel like I am in btw a rock and hard place.

Wow, as an LBD patient, that sounds scary AF. I am currently using high CBD medications to help manage the dementia problems as well as the physical ones (although they both have the same root cause so really, the CBDs are helping manage that). I know this is a political hot potato so I am only saying it works for me and I am taking it with the blessings of and encouragement by both my wife/caregiver and my neurologist. Fewer side effects, decent results.

YMMV

Hi,
I have had my share of hallucinations since being diagnosed with LBD. I have taken the road of natural as apposed to medically.
I use Essential Oils (Young Living) & my hallucinations have disappeared. I use on a daily basis Copaiba, lemongrass, peppermint & Immune Power.
I put a drop or two of each of these oils in a 32 oz glass. I drink 1-3 refills as the oil stays in the glass then refill a second time. I also use coconut oil in my coffee & cook with it. I eat a fresh veggies & chicken & fish. I do not eat processed foods or drink soda.
I have been doing this the last year & I am driving again & no longer using a Walker. I believe that I am slowing my process down.
I also use Roman Chamomile on my feet & behind my ears from time to time & use a diffuser at night.
I also use Vetiver or Stress Away during the day to help with Anxiety if that creaps up.
I also take supplement's on a daily basis.

Islandgurl, that is remarkable. Thanks for sharing. Do you have any idea which essential oils have been most effective, or is it just the whole mix working together?
