What is this study about?
This study is testing an educational program for family care partners of people with Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD) or dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
What’s involved?
Family care partners will gain weekly educational guidance through a 12-week curriculum with short readings, resources, and activities. All participation is virtual and there are no in-person visits. Care partners will fill out surveys and assessments at baseline, and every two weeks for nine months.
Who can participate?
An individual may be able to take part in the study if they are:
- A family care partner of a loved one diagnosed with PDD or DLB with cognitive symptoms or hallucinations for less than three years
- Living with or spending at least 10 hours per a week as a care partner now
- Live in the US
- Have phone and internet access
- Comfortable speaking and reading English
In addition, the study team is seeking individuals to participate as mentors in the study. An individual may be able to take part in the study as a mentor if they are:
- A family care partner of a loved one diagnosed with PDD or DLB with cognitive symptoms or hallucinations for at least three years or have died
- Living with or spending at least 10 hours per a week as a care partner now, or in the past if deceased
- Live in the US
- Have phone and internet access
- Comfortable speaking and reading English
