LBD RESEARCH IS CRITICAL -
AND YOU CAN BE PART OF IT.

LBD research – and the volunteers that enable it – are critical to improving our understanding of the disease.

Our current knowledge about LBD is limited, as it is very hard to tell the difference between LBD and similar brain diseases. There is no single test that detects LBD changes in the brain, which makes it very hard to diagnose LBD. By conducting studies that assess people with LBD over time, researchers hope to find ways to diagnose LBD earlier and more accurately.

But most important, finding new treatments for people with LBD is the #1 priority for all LBD clinical research (studies that involve people with LBD). That’s because there are currently no FDA-approved treatments for dementia with Lewy bodies. Clinical trials of experimental treatments will help us find new ways to safely and effectively manage LBD.

But to make it all happen, LBD researchers need the support and participation of volunteers from the LBD community – care partners, LBD family members, and people living with LBD. In other words, people like you who are willing to enlist in the fight against this debilitating and deadly disease.
