LBDA Announces the Appointment of Sarah Sung as Board President

ATLANTA – 02/6/2024 The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) announced today the appointment of Sarah Sung as President of the Board of Directors.

Sung joined the board of directors in 2022 and most recently served as the secretary.  She has a personal understanding of Lewy body dementia (LBD) through her father who had LBD with Parkinson’s. For her, being a member of the board is an opportunity to help other families and raise awareness for early diagnosis. Sung brings a background in content marketing and brand strategy along with her experience working in startups and global brands like Gap, Inc. and Under Armour.

“Over the past 20 years, LBDA has made significant strides in supporting caregivers, raising awareness of Lewy body dementia, and having a seat at the table for research and advocacy. I’m proud of the work of the staff, volunteers, and fellow board members to date, and am looking forward to celebrating more milestones and accomplishments to come,” said Sung.

Sung takes over as Shannon McCarty-Caplan steps down after serving as a director on the board since 2012, and most recently as president. In addition, Andy Matteis, director since 2016, has also ended his tenure on the board. Past presidents Christina Christie and Shannon McCarty-Caplan have been appointed President Emeritae and will serve LBDA in an advisory capacity.

“We are grateful for the leadership, service and guidance from Shannon and Andy, and the positive impact they have made on LBDA and our ability to continue to support the LBD community,” said Allison Feldman, CEO. “As we embark upon a new, three-year strategic plan, Sarah’s expertise will be instrumental in achieving our goals.”

The LBDA board of directors is composed of internationally recognized physicians and researchers, professionals and those who have had personal experience with LBD, all sharing a common goal of improving the lives of those living with Lewy body dementia.
