Don't Tell - a Poem by Carol Pappas

Don't Tell

by
Carol Pappas

My friend said

I was doing well

caring for my

dementia man.

She doesn’t know

about the time:

when I

almost put

my recipe book

in the freezer

or

squeezed the lemon

into the compost pot

instead of the

lemonade glass.

or

couldn’t remember

where I had put

my back pack from

two weeks before

or

put the chopped lettuce

in the compost pot

instead of the

salad bowl

or

placed my hubby’s shoes

on the wrong feet

one morning.

Sssh!

Promise not to tell her

about all of my

indiscretions.
