ATLANTA, GEORGIA, June 10, 2009 – The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) is pleased to provide medical professionals with the latest authoritative information on Lewy body dementia (LBD). Physicians, nurses and other health care professionals can now access easy-to-read tables and figures on LBD diagnosis and treatment options along with family- and patient-centered publications that can be downloaded or ordered at no cost at www.lbda.org/physicians.

In May 2009, LBDA invited more than 12,000 neurologists in the United States to be among the first to utilize this new portal of information. The compilation of vital, cutting-edge resources on LBD was developed by the 20-member LBDA Scientific Advisory Council, an international group of experts in Lewy body dementia and related issues. Resources now available at www.lbda.org/physicians address LBD diagnosis and treatment options:

  • Free LBD patient handout ordering page
  • Links to LBD patient and caregiver services
  • Publications for professionals
  • Research abstracts
  • Continuing medical education information
  • LBD reference books

LBDA is grateful to the Jerry Carpenter Lewy Body Disease Fund, a Subcommittee of the Turner Family Foundation, Foundation for The Carolinas, for its financial support in providing these free resources on LBD to physicians and the families they serve.

For further information on utilizing this new resource for physicians, please visit www.lbda.org/physicians or contact the LBDA National Office at lbda@lbda.org or 404.935.6444.
