My mom turned 80 yesterday and we had a nice party for her on Sunday for family only. In our case family includes 10 children, 20 grandchildren and 20+ great and great great grandchildren! About 35 people were here and she only mis-identified one person (thought her 40something grandson was his 22 year old son, the dad was thrilled!

). Everyone stayed less than 3 hours, which was perfect, she felt very special but it didn't exhaust her.
I mentioned in another post that her heart is functioning at 35% and we went to her PCP yesterday and found out that at her last US in 2009 her heart function was 65%, so this is a significant loss of function and makes me really sad. As much as I don't want my mom to suffer from the effects of all of her illnesses ( and right now she's doing great cognitively), at heart I'm still her little girl and want to keep her alive forever.
