 Re: Mom's admitted to hospice
I hope that Hospice will provide comfort for your Mom and the family and she could go on awhile, I know of a handful of people who has used hospice services for several years.
We used Hospice for 9 months! I have always been very greatful to what they provided to our family in our time of need !

 Re: Mom's admitted to hospice
Finally had a chat with the social worker. As far as mom is concerned, she is doing well, and being well cared for (no surprises there!). Since she is no longer mobile, fall risk has been eliminated with bed rails and chair alarms. She talked extensively with Dad, and I think he is starting to come to terms with mom's condition. He has finally admitted to being open to putting mom in an SNF if it gets too much for him. They are sending a volunteer companion once a week..more to chat with him rather than sit with mom. They matched him with a great volunteer...a local man in his 70's who lost his wife to ALZ. I think this will be great for dad.
At least something went right this week! Thank you all for your support!

Oh, that does sound like an improvement. I'm glad something did go well this week!

That's good news. Acceptance is a long process.
