mockturtle wrote: The survival instinct is strong and it often seems to override other considerations. My husband, Dale has now passed the sixth day without food and water. As with your mother, his last taste of food in his mouth was applesauce which he could not swallow. I ache for you and know quite well what you are feeling. We have no idea when death will come. Dale was very aware today when we talked with him and the tears come when we know there is nothing we can do to hasten the process.
I join you in hoping and praying that their suffering will not last much longer. This is torture for us all. I'm thankful for the prayers and continued concern for us.

Leone, I think we all join collectively in telling you how much you are loved and thought about. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and Dale as you make this transition. Our Lord is merciful and is holding you and Dale in the palm of His hand. Try to relax, and get any rest that you can. Love to you and yours, Misty

Prayers going up for mercy on both of these families. I pray peace will descend on you all soon and you can breathe a sigh of relief at the end of long terrible journey.

Re: In Need of Advice Concerning Feeding Tube
When I was taking care of my father in his last days, we were amazed at how long the human body could survive without fluids and it impressed on me just how miraculous the body is---how miraculous life is! All of the systems join in coordinating the effort to keep functioning up to the end. It's an amazing and truly awesome experience.
