 Re: Tech Issues
Two days later and that other spam post is now gone, but the spammer remains a member here.

 Re: Tech Issues
LBDA -
Thanks for creating a "Obituary Notices of our Loved ones" area. Will we all be given access to this area?
For those of us who don't mind having our email addresses provided, can you bring back the EMAIL buttons? Also, there's a more elegant way to use the Forum software to send emails that doesn't require the email address being shown to the sender. Other forums I know of use the same software but have this more elegant approach to emails.

 Re: Tech Issues
I am sure we will all be given access to this area and I assume there is a clitch with it as I can't get in to it either, I will make sure it goes through the proper channels !

 Re: Tech Issues
And there's another spammer as of last night. The same person is also spamming on another forum I'm on, as of last Sunday. Perhaps forum administrators using this phpBB Group software should exchange notes about spammers. It appears that the "upgrade" did nothing to help with the spam situation.

 Re: Tech Issues
I saw those posts but they didn't appear to be spam to me.

If you'll look more closely, you'll see the spam.

 Re: Tech Issues
In addition to the spam ad, the text posted was likely stolen from another post here on the Forum. That's how these spammers work now.
I think the whole notion that the technical upgrade got rid of spammers has now been shown to be a falsehood.

 Re: Tech Issues
Thanks I will forward your comments, as I looked at those this morning and thought they were sincere, I guess I was wrong !

 Re: Tech Issues
We've done some following up on the spammer issues and it appears that some of the security features are either set incorrectly or have not been properly installed. Unfortunately, our current hosting arrangement doesn't allow us the direct access to the files that we need to correct the problems. This same problem prevents us from fixing other issues, such as the incorrectly linked logo, display problems, etc.
For now I have temporarily suspended new user registrations until we can get things sorted out. We're also reviewing ways to get access to the forum files so that we can have full control of the boards. I hope to resolve this within a week or so - thanks for your patience.

 Re: Tech Issues
Wonderful that 6 weeks after the spammer problems you've realized that the upgrade did not, in fact, prevent spammers from posting.
