Post Tech Issues
Hi - is anyone else experiencing tech. difficulties since the format has been changed on the forum? There seem to be a lot of broken links, I lose the forum and have to shut down that window completely to get back in.
I probably shouldn't post this here but wasn't sure who to get in touch with. Thanks, Lynn

Yes I am having problems with getting multiple notifications for a topic I was watching (one that I started). I am getting notifications that someone has posted something and there aren't any changes to the topic. I unsubscribed to the topic and they still keep coming anyway.

I'm not having any technical problems. Just psychological ones -- getting used to the change!

I have received 50 to 75 emails telling me a "a new private message has arrived" starting yesterday and continuing today. All the same.

Wow - I'm glad I asked! How coincidental is this - the email notice about a reply to this turned up in my email about 45 times! Help! Someone! Thank you!
Is this a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but someone fixed it and now it is "broke"?!
I'd love to have "Board Index" changed back to "Forum Index" since this is the forum and I don't know why the word "board" replaced "forum". Makes it confusing. Lynn

I think it's a shame it had to be changed. It was one of the better forum formats I've seen.

I want to thank you all for your comments. We made the change to improve the overall security of the forum site. The forums were being inundated with spammers, requiring an update to the software. I understand that there are some difficulties. Our tech support will be looking into it to see what adjustments are required. In the mean time we apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing.

Thanks for working on the spammer issue, and I do hope you have found a software fix for the multiple email problem. These multiple emails refuse to be deleted on my email server - I just cannot get rid of them, or they are re-appearing. I have over 100 emails from the forum, all from 3 postings. They just keep showing up even though I've deleted them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The site seems to be a little less user-friendly to read than it was prior to the update. Lynn

Yes, I agree. It's not very easy to read. The old format was much easier on the eyes.

I apologize for the problems - we did test this for about three weeks and didn't have any problems. I've made some changes that I hope will correct the mass e-mail problem. Please e-mail me if you continue to have problems. As for the layout, we can change that, and I will look into some easier-to-read alternatives.

Mark was right on about the upgrade, though. For the past couple of years we have had a horrible problem with spammers registering - up to 80 or so a *day* - and this upgrade will help us address that. Also, it provides much better management tools and will keep you guys - the forum community - safer from scammers/spammers/etc.

Again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Matt

In my several years as a member of this Forum, I've never seen one spammer post. So I'm unclear as to what the problem was that the LBDA was supposedly trying to fix.

Robin,
That's because either staff or tech contractors spent several hours every day wading through the user applications to ensure that only real people with an interest in LBD were approved. As a result, we've had to dedicate a lot of resources to that instead of focusing on other things within the organization.
That said, we'll get the e-mail issue fixed, and I apologize for the growing pains.

Matt
