Does anyone know of a Doctor that does home visits in Manatee County, FL. ?

 Re: Help
lizg: I don't know if this is too late to be of any use but I did a google snnearch of "house calls doctors manatee" and came up with the name of a Dr. Rizutto on State Rd. 64. Not really much info on him. I'd suggest calling the Manatee Elder Helpline at 742-5818. They should have a list. Is it time for hospice? I think your regular doctor can order that. Haven't had to do any of this yet so it's just a shot in the dark. Ann

 Re: Help
Thank you, I am not sure if it is time for Hospice. I need a doctor to tell me that and I can't get him over there, it is hard enough just getting him from bed to chair no less in and out of the car. Thanks for the info, I'll call now.

 Re: Help
I called a number that was Alliance Home Care and they were in the process of changing to a new company. It tool about 6 weeks but someone will be there today to check Gary over. It's a start.

 Re: Help
lizg: If the new doctor doesn't work out I got one from the Alzheimer's Assoc. at a caregiver meeting. Dr. Montaneiro Westminster Towers 941-748-8400 His office is in a Bradenton nursing home but apparently he does do house calls. Good luck. Ann

 Re: Help
Thank you for the info. A nurse practitioner came over on Saturday but it is good to know that another Doctor could be available, I was getting very frustrated trying to find help. I will save that information for future reference if this doesn't work out.

 Re: Help
My husband Gary has been getting regular visits (nursing, physical and occupation therapy). He is in perfect health but Gary and Lewy are best friends, Lewy never leaves his side. I adopted a dog from the Humane Society last month and Gary actually responds to him (Roscoe), a beagle with the biggest puppy dog eyes. He has been a wonderful addition to our family.

 Re: Help
This was heartwarming to read, they say a dog is man"s best friend.

 Re: Help
Well Gary is back to being awake at all hours of the night. I have to work today on 2 hrs. sleep. Any suggestions. I've tried melatonin in the past but Gary had a reaction to it. I am totally exhausted and I get cranky when tired.

 Re: Help
Just curious. What kind of reaction did he have to melatonin? It didn't help my husband, either, and I think he also had a reaction. Hope you ask his doctor for help ASAP. I know what it's like to live with 2-3 hours of sleep a night. Not healthy!

 Re: Help
Yes Liz, you have to get some professional advice. The drug we ended up with for sleep issues after trying many was the Trazadone but again this does not mean it will work for you case as they are all so very different.
You have to find a way to be able to get your rest too or you will break down and not be much help at all to yourself or anyone else !

 Re: Help
Pat, in response to your question, Gary deteriorated to the point of listlessness, falling down and the mumbling of his words, very glassy eyed, and it lasted for quite awhile, I am afraid to give him anything new because he seems to have bad reactions to many medications. I was so upset with him last night and I know it isn't his fault, I really, really miss Gary.

 Re: Help
Irene, the nurse is coming by today, I will check and see if there is anything we can do to give him and me a restful nights sleep.
