Hi! My mother broke her leg due to a dementia black out, and is now undergoing physical therapy in nursing facility. It will be impossible with her current leg condition to drive all the way to her normal Parkinson's specialist, but I would like to get her on some new medicine for the dementia because the fracture has made the dementia worse. Can any doctor or psychiatrist prescribe medicine, or does it need to be a Parkinson's specialist?

Any MD can prescribe any medication. It's up to the MD to decide if he/she knows enough about LBD and the particular medication being requested.
