 Doctors.... Robin
robin wrote: Is there any way you can change MDs? The visiting nurse suggested that we talk with Dale's PCP on Monday. I will do that. The two men have adjacent offices in the same building - but I don't believe they are friends.... just colleagues.

Leone, when an angry outburst erupts, such as the divorce thing, don't assume he is speaking to you. His mind could have wandered ... where??? Who knows??? Never doubt that he loves you dearly and always will. DrP

But is there any way you can change to a new neurologist? Find someone who is more knowledgeable about treating sleep problems.

 Dale's mind - Dorthea
dorthea wrote: Leone, when an angry outburst erupts, such as the divorce thing, don't assume he is speaking to you. His mind could have wandered ... where??? Who knows??? Never doubt that he loves you dearly and always will. DrP You are quite right, Dorthea. I am his second wife and I know that much of what he talks about has nothing to do with me. In fact, he often thinks he lives in the 2-story house where he and his late wife raised their children. She did want a divorce and it broke his heart.
He also tells me often that he loves me.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Finally...... Dale's PCP decided to help us and has given Dale the Klonopin I requested. I will pick it up today.
Can I use it with the Seroquel? In what combination? I am by-passing the neurologist.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Leone, that is great news! I sure hope it helps.
Have you tried discussing drug interactions with your pharmacist? I don't suppose they are all this good, but the pharmacist who owns our local pharmacy has been just excellent at these sorts of questions, including doing the research when he wasn't sure. Anyway, it's just another resource if you aren't confident about, or cannot obtain, your physician's advice.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Leone, I agree with Julianne 100%. Pharmacists know so much more than do doctors about drugs and their interactions. And their computers are set up to red flag any possible conflict with other meds or with the patient's medical history, allergies, etc. Provided, of course, that the pharmacist has all of Dales's meds in his records.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Since Dale has taken Seroquel so long - a year and a half, I've been buying the Seroquel from Germany.... so our local Pharmacy will not have that in their records. I'll ask anyhow.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Just to complete this thread... for the benefit of others, Dale took Clonazepam (Klonopin) 1 mg combined with Seroquel 100 last night and he slept peacefully for the first time in several weeks. There was no talking and we both had a full night of rest. Thankfully, Dale's PCP agreed with my request for the Klonopin and ordered it for us.
Nothing else worked this well. We tried Xanax and that only increased the nighttime talking.

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Dr. Boeve in the Continuum paper discusses using these meds together. If you haven't reviewed it recently, you might do so.

 Boeve's papers
Yes, Robin, I know..... and that was good enough for me. It is apparent that our neurologist has not read Boeve's papers. No doubt he should. It would have saved us a lot of grief.
Actually, what makes me additionally irritated is that I made copies for him of the entire set of Boeve's papers!

 Re: Tylenol PM forbidden?
Leone, surely you don't expect the doctor to read anything you give him, do you? Sometimes I think some doctors don't even read the patient's chart. In fact I know they sometimes don't.

E-mails? Do doctors get e-mails? Not mine! At least not that they admit.
