Axona, CoQ10 and anti-coagulents, Omega 3-6 and gingko bilob
Dear members, my father has just been diagnosed with LBD. Would love to know what people's experiences are with the following medications/supplements:- Axona i've seen posts about coconut oil, but not specifically about effectiveness of Axona in an LBD context - using CoQ10 to fight Parkinson's symptoms [thinking of a 1200 mg/day dose] safe to use when using aspirin as a blood thinner? - Omega 3-6 - Gingko biloba According to the mayo clinic's evaluation, effective in fighting the cognitive symptoms of dementia (in general) - they gave it an "A" (which means that there is scientific evidence that this has a positive effect, even though they also add that more research needs to be done.) Any testimonials for or against this supplement? Thanks, Anke

Anke, My husband was taking the omega and the coQ10 for several months, this disease fluctuates so it's hard to tell what is or isn't working. His neuro said the trials with coQ10 were with very high doses and he felt because of the cost it didn't show enough or any improvement. Others my respond with a positive result. Welcome, I have found this site is a life line for us. Take Care, Gerry

A few people here have asked others about Axona. (Someone just recently did.) I'm not sure anyone here is using it. Not all MDs are willing to prescribe it.
If you do a search on CoQ10, I'm sure you'll find some past experiences. (EricSEA gave it to his FIL. He squeezed out the stuff on to a cracker!) Seems like the NIH study dosing is up to 2400 mg/day.
I thought there was a major review on gingko earlier this year or late last year that said it was useless.

My husband has been on 1000 mg of COQ10 for years because he is on colestrol medication and that depletes COQ10. Apparently it didn't do anything to help or prevent LBD unless the dosage isn't high enough.
