Laurel, That's really beautiful! Thanks for posting. I wish I could draw/sketch but I also can barely draw stick people! Ellen

 Re: drawing and art
My files are jpg's but I tried again this morning and they just won't upload. It may be my less than fantastic Comcast that's the issue. I've uploaded to this site before, but only photos. My watercolors may be larger files or something and even though we supposedly have the bandwidth, we don't.

 Re: drawing and art
Laurel, that is beautiful - such talent!!!
Lynn, I have had problems uploading jpeg files also,(to a private message) even though I did it before, and had no problems. Keeps telling me it won't accept it, even when I resized the photo.

Ellen:
My grandmother made the rag rugs, so I grew up with them. My sister still has one or two. She also quilted, crocheted, and made rag dolls. Not for cutesy as now, nor to be kept as family heirlooms, but because she lived late 1800s and early 1900s when you had to "use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

 Re: drawing and art
Hi Lynn,
The only other thing I can think of is the size - it would not let me load one of the photos that I had scanned until I made it much smaller (in MB or KB)......I had to make it about 1/2 the size by reducing it.....are you able to do that?
Take care all,
Tonya

 Re: drawing and art
Thanks for the kind words! I hoped this would give everyone a little visual vacation. For me, the drawing "fixes" the setting in my mind - not just the sight, from looking at it so intently, but every other sense, the sound of little waves and children playing, the smell of the sea and the sunscreen, the warmth of the sun on my shoulders, and yes, the taste of that ice cream. I have piles of sketchbooks around, going back many years, but only got this great little watercolor travel kit about 5 years ago. It has been to Greece, Japan (twice), Vancouver - all for conferences - Ca coast and Yosemite. If we can manage a vacation next year, which depends a lot on parents' situation, we would like to go to Ireland. Dan's mom was born and raised in a small town in county Galway, and neither of us has ever been there.
Tonya, I think you are right. I had saved this image in a much-compressed format, about a tenth the original number of kb. That still retains enough detail for the kind of thumbnail image we see on the web site. Lynn, can you try really reducing the stored size?
And I love the braided rugs - so beautiful, and so warm and home-feeling! I think there are folks here who have many gifts, but all have the gift of caring. Thanks... for being there. Laurel

 Re: drawing and art
I have never been able to figure out how to resize images. Any simple suggestions? All of my paintings are jpgs and most of my photos are too. Thanks, Lynn

 Re: drawing and art
Lynn,
I use an apple computer and iphoto and it lets me change the size when I export the photo - if you use windows and/or photoshop or something similar does it let you have an option to change the size?

 Re: drawing and art
Don't have Photoshop and haven't figured out how to change the size in anything on my Dell laptop. OK - one more try after some coaching from my husband:

 Re: drawing and art
Wow, that is exquisite, Lynn! I love your colors and your use of light, and also the really flowing watercolor. You are so gifted! (and, clearly, you must have devoted time and thought to perfecting this - you really show that kind of mastery.)
When we moved into this house, we planted a grape arbor on the west side, to shade those big windows from late-afternoon sun and heat. Your picture made me think of how the light shines through the leaves and grapes at harvest time. Laurel
