Yes, she's on an antidepressant, though I don't know whether this particular one (Effexor) is helpful for crying.

She is also on a 25 mcg. Fentanyl patch, with Vicodin PRN for breakthrough pain, and my nurse practitioner niece has pointed out to me that narcotics can make people weepy. So there's another possible explanation.

I don't know if crying is therapeutic or not, but I don't blame her for crying, either. I'd just like to see if anything would make her feel better. Maybe that's not a realistic wish under the circumstances.
