Post You never can tell who sat there before you did....
A new habit has developed at our house. Since the imaginary 'guests' in our house tend to use the toilet in the master bedroom, Dale has started putting long strips of toilet paper on the seat before he sits down. I kept wondering why the toilet paper rolls were disappearing so fast .... and now I know.

It reminds me of the toilet paper strips I used to see in public restrooms many years ago. I'm not sure what disease he thinks he will get from sitting where they sit... but who knows?

Leone, that's too funny! But it's the sort of thing Derek does. Right now he wanted some adhesive tape so he can hang some signs identifying items so that 'they' won't use them. He covers his water glass. That sort of thing.

OTOH, the paramedics have been here so often he probably thinks they live here.

It is important to find the humor in our lives. I went in the den the other afternoon and Frank was on the floor, I asked what happened, stupid question, no answer, but I found he was trying to sit on the door stop we have, a 6" metal swan, I guess he wanted to go for a ride.

Yesterday my MIL read the same Pottery Barn catalog for over an hour. She went from front to back then switched from back to front - over and over without ever looking up. Who knows what she was seeing on those pages! Since she doesn't talk we can't tell what her delusions are. She used to have wild parties in her room at 2:00 am!

Dale reads the pseudo medical catalogs that come regularly in the mail. I try to bring in the mail while he is taking a nap because he always thinks he has some really strange condition - as a result of his reading. He also keeps trying to remember the five warning signs of a stroke.

He keeps stacks of 'important papers' next to his chair. I sometimes look to see what they are and most are dated before he retired in 2008.

Was your MIL looking for Christmas gifts?

Ok I will agree this is childlike in this instance, my 5 yr old was in a pre-k program and had an accident in school and when I got there wiith a change of clothes I asked her what happened, her reply (Back in the day they used those little pull down squares for toilet paper) Everytime she tried to line the seat they kept falling in and she just coudn't hold it anymore!

Irene, that's priceless! I'm still giggling.

I remember those 'squares' well and how much we hated them! It brings back a strange memory. A friend of mine worked for a company that allowed him only three 'squares' per men's room visit. I'm not sure if he decided to bring his own roll ... or what.

This is toooo funny! One day while checking in on my mom in the bathroom I found her tearing the toilet paper into little squares. Good to keep the humor!!!

Those squares were about like using newspaper! We've come a long way, baby!

Yes, Lynn..... What would we do without 'wet ones'? In Europe, we had a bidet in our apartment but I never really learned how to use it even though we were there almost ten years. In fact, I can't imagine holding the position of trying to use one now. You need to have very strong thighs. I've never tried a toilet with a bidet in it. Have you?

I think I'll stay with 'wet ones.'

Heck, I just use good old Scott single ply for myself. I use 'wet ones' on my husband, though. Speaking of strong thighs, you need that in Japan, for sure, squatting over those public toilets which are a porcelain hole in the floor.

Yes, and they say squatting more healthy than sitting on a throne.

When we were in Russia, the tour bus stopped by the side of the road and the women went one way and the men went across the road - the other way. Another bus came by before we were all back on the bus. .... And you guessed it, they also sent the women and men opposite ways. You tend to hurry when you see a bunch of men heading your way.

Goodness, Growing up in Pike County Mississippi, The Sears Roebuck Catalog was available in every out house with the moon "cut out" on the side wall. At many other places such as a party we knew how to find the outside of the house and make sure we did not splatter on our shoes.

No electricity or running water. When a few girls disappeared for a few minutes, no one asked why. It was not proper to say where or why.

I'm so glad I grew up with good toilet paper! One of the blessings of the 20th century! Remember when Y2K prep. was such a big deal? I have a friend who stashed many cases of toilet paper the previous fall - that was the last thing she wanted to run out of! LOL Lynn
