 catatonic?
My LO just got out of the shower, was getting dressed, and "folding" his towel. He tried for several minutes to push the towel through the mirror to give it to his reflection. He has now been standing in front of the mirror for over 10 minutes, just staring at himself, with a kinda goofy grin on his face. Is this a typical behavior? He was diagnosed 3 years ago, and is able to function fairly well.

 Sharing the towel.
Anne, this will pass. Try asking him to let you have the towel, it needs to go in the laundry. When these incidents happen try to help him with what he is trying to accomplication by taking a different route.
I'm sorry.

He finally "woke up" after about 40 minutes of just standing there staring at his reflection. I asked him if he knew he had done that, and he did not. He seems ok now. Thank you.

Anne,
Sometimes people with dementia type illnesses don't recognize themselves, it is sad to watch, I know.

 The man in the mirror
Sometimes my husband will see other men at the nursing home and point at them and cry and say "There's me! That's me right there!"
Strange, I agree.
