Re: Massage Therapy for early stage patients.
I can think of all sorts of things I'd rather have if I was going to spend $80. to $90. for an hour. We each have different values. (I'm no angel... I wear pink and whites which aren't cheap. I consider that my 'mental health' medicine. Having fingers that look good on the keyboard is part of being a musician.)

What are 'pink and whites', Leone?

Ditto, I guess I don't get out much, I just found out we have a "black & white", it's a store with pricey clothes, not my kind of place.

Re: Massage Therapy for early stage patients.
OK - I'll be the third to ask "what is a pink and white"? My back is so sore from my exercise class yesterday I feel like I need the chiropractor AND about a 5 hour massage!

Re: Massage Therapy for early stage patients.
Wow - we call those French manicures around here. I like the name Pink and Whites. Reminds me of summer clothes and the flowers in my gardens! Thank you for the education today, Leone! Lynn

Pink and whites are acrylics.. French manicures are painted on. Acrylics last two weeks or more. Painted nails last only about a week. They look similar.

I've never had a manicure, either.

Re: Massage Therapy for early stage patients.
I hadn't either until my (then ) 92 year old mother was visiting and needed to get her acrylics filled. We had a spa day and had our nails done..I liked it and have had them done since. Lst week I had the acrylics soaked off and a nail strengthener applied. (The nails are a bit soft after being covered so long.) I was fracturing the acrylic picking up Del's wheelchair and getting the nail rammed. "Ouch"
Think I will just do manicures for awhile. But I sure liked the look of the acrylics. Tres chic.
Treat yourself, Pat. Now that you don't have to hoist Derek, you deserve some pampering.
Smiles, Nan

 Nails for caregiver therapy....
I've had my nails done since the 60s but a niece talked me into acrylics in 2002 when I was going to attend my 50th H.S. reunion in California. All her friends had acrylics, boob jobs, and blond hair. (I didn't do the other stuff. My hair is still red mixed with a few silver ones.)
Unlike a regular manicure, acrylics last two weeks or more... so I can go away for a couple of weeks and they still look nice. I call it my 'therapy.' I don't take any drugs or pills. My mother lived to 104 and my dad to 92. I expect to be around a while.

Re: Massage Therapy for early stage patients.
Sounds interesting but it's just not me. And while I didn't used to have the time, now I can't afford it! My idea of pampering would be a three-day backpacking trip. But not in the winter. I really should have my hair done, though. Guess we should really move this topic to the 'respite' forum.
