Post Re: Mom is not eating or drinking
My dad died of lung cancer several years ago. (No dementia.) He couldn't feed himself the last few days, and the day before he died I fed him ice cream, and reminisced about the first time he took me to the state fair (I was about 7), and he let me have a rainbow ice cream cone and 7-up for breakfast. Food experiences can be bonding events! I don’t remember it, but I have also heard stories of the time I fell off the bed as a toddler and wouldn’t stop screaming (apparently at the indignity of it – I was not injured). He hoisted me on his shoulder and carried me to the drug store, where he bought me my first ice cream – and shut me up. And here I was, feeding him his last ice cream. Sniff.

I guess you are never too old or too young or too sick for ice cream. It gives me pleasure to give Coy ice cream now.

Awww, yes we all scream for icecream! I will never forget my first taste of lime sherbet! Yum when you are sick. Thanks Daddy!
