Tell me about the 'gel pad' you mentioned, Pat. Is it the swivel type? Would it be useful on a kitchen chair? Dale turns on the chair to stand up from the table. He sits on a flat pillow but I'm always afraid it will slip and he will fall. I've heard of some that are used in a car seat. Are there some better than others?

This is one I bought for him to use in the car and I can't remember where I ordered it. It was about $70 I think. Not too thick [maybe an inch or so] but very comfortable. It's made up of a kind of honeycomb of gel cells and really stays put because it's flexible and heavy and has a textured cover. It's kind of hard to describe but if I can find the source I'll send you the link. The only negative is that, after it stayed in the car seat for months in the desert, the exterior cover started shedding little black particles so we have to keep it in a pillow case.
