Not sure where in NC you are, I live just across the border in SC...I just moved Tony, one week ago Thurs. into a Hospice House. Just in time I think. They are wonderful people. He is mostly unresponsive now, breathing with some difficulty, but they are taking wonderful care of him. He does open his eyes occasionally and when he does, he sees a beautiful, sunny, serene room with caring personnel helping him. I pray I am strong enough to help him through this.

Sandilee, I'm glad it went smoothly and that you've found such a nice facility. Blessings to you and yours.

nsalvadore, please don't be too strong. Be who you are and let the emotions out. Even if he is unresponsive, I do believe that as bad as it gets, there is still a little piece of our loved ones in there needing to be reminded of how important they are to us. Bless you.

You are both in my thoughts.

Kate (Cared for Mom for years before anyone else noticed the symptoms, but the last year of her life was rough and we needed to place her in an SNF, where she passed in February 2012)
