 Re: Getting pills down We've just started with Xanax for extreme agitation. I hadn't noticed others using it but for us, it works well. Thanks for the hint.

Re: Getting pills down Fran did a first this morning, when giving him his meds instead of drinking the water I handed him, he just chewed them up and continued eating his cereal. Ugh

Re: Getting pills down Along with the loss of the sense of smell comes a concommitant loss of being able to taste things. Del also will chew up his pills, especially if he has been eating something that requires chewing. It is as if he cannot make the transfer from chewing a piece of toast to swallowing something else that shouldn't be chewed. Go figure. But as long as he doesn't spit them back out it is a good day. We are having increased troubles with his spitting back the pills even when mixed with something. Like a baby that doesn't want to swallow...he just lets it drool out his mouth and roll down his chin. I didn't think I was going to be a new mom at 67 with a 155 pound baby. Smiles, Nan

Re: Getting pills down Nan, when I'm scooping the cream of wheat off his chin with the spoon and putting it back in his mouth I always think of when I fed my babies. Not as much fun, though, is it?

Re: Getting pills down Feeding Dale has certainly brought back memories. A couple of times today, I tickled his feet and he laughed. I told him that all these diaper changes and feeding activities are sort of fun when the baby is 8-15 pounds. It's not so cute when he's 150 pounds and completely rigid.
I'm getting used to the pill crusher ... but wish it didn't take so much energy.
