 Durable Power of Attorney specific for Medi cal planning
Hello , What else exactly needs to be included in a Power of Attorney in regards to medi cal planning? If you alread meet all the financal and property ownership levels? Trying to get it right without all the expensive legal fees. Sincerely Donna

Hi Donna,
Are you referring to the Medicaid program in California called MediCal?
I'm not sure why the MediCal program would care about the contents of a POA or whether a POA (for financial matters) is even required. Since there's a look-back period, MediCal would be able to learn what you've done in your husband's name, for example, as POA.

To add to what Robin said ...
Medi-Cal is what Medicaid is called in California. Each state has its own rules and regulations for Medicaid eligibility, so be sure you check the ones for the state in which you reside.
If you are trying to avoid legal fees (hope you had an attorney at least look over your POA paperwork), trying looking for a legal forum or elderlaw forum on the Internet where you might find some more information.
