 Dad with LBD
my dad is 82 and was completely healthy until he turned 70, since then it has been downhill. very hard on him. very hard on my mom. my mom is his caregiver. she takes care of him at home. he can still take mostly care of himself for dressing and bathroom and bathes with assistance. He is either sleeping a lot, or awake a lot and has recently be having delusions/hallcinations during the day time. He used to only have hallcinations during the night. I have 3 siblings but I am the only one who has stayed with my father to give my mom a break. Last year i did for 4 days and this year i will for 5 days. I go and visit once a month ( i live 2 hours away and have six kids at home) and stay for the weekend, bringing meals and giving my mom someone to talk with. Thank you so much for this board. I have learned a lot in the couple days i have been here.

Welcome! It is a wonderful thing that you are able to give your mom some breaks in spite of the distance and your own responsibilities. And I'm sure it is great for her to have someone to talk to.

Laurie, Check out Dr. Brad Boeve's "Continuum" paper from 2004 (search lbda.org) for a recommended treatment regimen for those with LBD. Robin

Welcome Laurie. You sure are another Sandwich Generation CG! I hope you can squeeze in a little time for yourself, but with all these folks to take care of, I'm sure that's hard. I hope you come here often for support. Lynn
