We have not had the "official" diagnosis, but for all indications my father in law has Lewy Bodies Dementia. It would be my opinion that he is about in the first third of this stage. He has small Parkinson tremors, fades in and out with recognizing people, hallucinates, has had 2 falls, and no longer reads the paper. His words are lost or switched when he tries to hold a conversation. Hopefully we will get him in this week to the doctor to find out what our plan of action is from here.

Dad is 76 yrs old. Has always been very active as a troubleman for the local utility company. But now, we are lucky to get him to walk to the bay.

Read Dr. Boeve's "Continuum" paper on proper treatment for someone with LBD, and give it to the MD as well.

Contact the San Diego chapter of the Alzheimer's Association to learn if there's a support group for family members to attend.

And, contact the Caregiver Resource Center in your local area. (See cacrc.org for a list of these California centers.) If you are in San Diego county, that would be the Southern CRC; find them online at: http://www.scrc.signonsandiego.com/
Find out what services they make available to caregivers in your area. The local CRC in the SF Bay Area offers terrific training classes for caregivers on dealing with dementia-related behavior.
