Post re: New here :)
Hello,

My name is Lauren I am 26 from Australia and my mother is currently under assessment for LBD. Looks like I may have come to the right place to find people that understand how I am feeling. I have already found this site really helpful. Just wondering if there may be someone of a similar age to me?

Lauren

Welcome, Lauren (sorry it's under the circumstances that brought you here) ... there are people of all ages on this forum, concerned for their parent, spouse, sibling, grandparent or friend. The people on this forum have been a wonderful source of information and courage for me -- and they will be the same for you if you let them.
Best,

I am 51 and it is my dad who has the LBD.

However, my heart breaks for you as I can only imagine going through this with your mom at your age.

As it happens I have a daughter(our only child) whose name is Lauren and she is also 26 years old.

If you ever need to "talk" you can e mail me at richnlianne@yahoo.com

Take care.

Mum had her second opinion today, and the 2nd psych has given her the news- he thinks it is LBD, but still wants mum to see a neurosurgeon. This is the 1st my mum has heard of it and is only 60. This has hit her and the rest of the family really hard. I am surprised at my own strength. I think out of all the family I have read the most and had an opportunity to come to terms with it, as hard as it is. The hospital gave mum a valium to cope with the news which I despise. Anyway, thats out of my control. Thanks to all for listening in such a crazy time.
