Post Symptoms
Hi; Has anyone experienced their person with LBD losing their vision? My husband has lost his peripheral vision and now I think he is getting hard of hearing. He is unable to read even big print books so now we get the recorded books from the Library. I have not seen anywhere where this is listed as a symptom.

Yes, do a search on vision or eyesight. There have been many postings about this as well as intermittent loss of hearing issues. Lynn

My MIL complains a lot that her vision is blurry. She doesnt complain about it all the time but once in awhile she will mention that her vision is fuzzy or blurry. I dont know if this has anything to do with the dementia or not.

Many people on this forum have had LOs who have intermittent vision and/or hearing problems. My dad, who'd been going deaf for years, suddenly had extremely acute hearing on and off during his last year. During his last months he couldn't distinguish between a basketball game and a soap opera on his tv. The brain's inability to translate what he was seeing into what it was, was fascinating. Very sad, but fascinating. I'm guessing that your LO's vision problems may be intermittent too? Lynn

Thanks everyone. It is good to know that his vision problem is LBD related. The optomologist felt that it could be but wasn.t sure and could find no other reason.

Annie, I have read several times over of vision problems with Lewy body. My husband has had vision problems for a long time, he can't read anything. About 7 years ago he lost the hearing in his right ear, they said because of nerve damage, now I know why. I have googled Lewy body dementia and have many sites locked in my favorites.

Post Re: Symptoms
My husbands vision fluctuated wildly and his hearing became acute and noise became his biggest source of irritation.

Yup, my husband has times when, no matter what glasses he puts on, he can't see small print or has vision issues in low light.

Hearing too... I can always tell which "mode" he's in by the volume number on the TV
