Post average age?
Is there such a thing as an average age that lb starts? As I said before, my husband is only 66. I have been reading a lot of the other posts and they seem to be older when they are finally dx. Is it that they are not disgnosed for a long time or is this so slow in moving that only the closest people notice changes in the person with lb?

Then I read a post of a 50 something having been diagnosed.

Not even sure if I am on the right tract.

From the LBDA website: "Advanced age is considered to be the greatest risk factor for Lewy body dementia, with onset typically, but not always, between the ages of 50 and 85. Some cases have been reported much earlier. It appears to affect slightly more men than women."

Pat [68] married to Derek [84] for 38 years; husband dx PDD/LBD 2005, probably began 2002 or earlier; late stage and in a SNF as of January 2011. Hospitalized 11/2/2013 and discharged to home Hospice. Passed away at home on 11/9/2013.

My husband is 58 and has had symptoms for years. When he had hallucinations we knew there was problem. I guess it is what it is , we can only deal with the situation. Good luck

I don't think there is an average age. My Mother in law is 64 and we don't think she has much time with the way it's progressing. I have read about people that are in their 50's, just diagnosed, or ppl in their 70's.

My husband was just 51 when he was diagnosed. He had an especially tough form of it (I posted the confirmed LBD brain autopsy report in a different post). It was because the initial Parkinsons was advancing so quickly that we found out he probably had LBD. When he passed away this past February, he had just turned 58. He MAY have had small symptoms even before his official diagnosis. He was quite young to have had it.
