This is an incredible news story about the women's basketball coach at the Univ of TN who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease (EOAD) in May at Mayo Rochester. She will continue as the coach though responsibility for calling plays during games will be distributed to others.

as this is a local story….for me…watching it….

I think her national exposure can a be a great thing for people like me….

if she can hold it together for awhile and be somewhat productive….

if her handlers handle her well…..

then it could help early onsetters lead more productive lives for longer….

on the other hand…if it goes badly…..

it could help early onsetters get more help sooner…..

so….what I think….however it goes…..shining the sun on this should be good….

I think most of the pain for the early onsetter is in darkness, in hiding, in fear, in losing control all at once….

so…maybe she will have a controlled descent….hopefully those on the ropes will be gentle….

This article really hit home with me. In addition to my moms LBD, my cousin Mark was diagnosed with EOAD two years ago at age 56. Watching his struggle and the love and support of his wife and children humbles me.
