 Skin Symptoms
Hey y'all, isn't it great to have the boards back up?? Thought I would just stop in and do an update on some new symptoms for Chris. He is having several things happening at once with his skin. He has what almost looks like a heat rash in the middle of his arms, both sides, yet the room is cool and the a/c is functioning. Never had this ever before. No new soaps, etc. He has a blood blister on his hand, never had those before. He also has what looks like a scratched rash on his neck. Last week his face turned severely red and this week all the skin on his face is peeling off. Kinda like eczema (sp? forgive me).
I am thinking a reaction to some new med. He has been on an increased doses of most of his meds and has one new med, Depakote.
Any clues? Anyone else with this same thing?

 Re: Skin Symptoms
Debra, it sounds very much like a reaction to a medication and a possibly dangerous reaction, at that. I would certainly let his physician know asap. God bless!

 Re: Skin Symptoms
I found this in the archives of this board...it is an article about Parkinson's and Seborrhea/dermatitis. Here is the link: http://community.lbda.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1850

 Re: Skin Symptoms
Yes, my husband has that seborrhea. But the peeling of all the skin of the face sounded more like a bad reaction to medication. Not likely to be this, but it's a serious condition: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/stevens-johnson-syndrome/DS00940

 Re: Skin Symptoms
Thanks for that article. I don't think it is this, seeing it is not that connected to the mucus membranes. This is strictly a skin surface problem around on his face, on the side of his nose, his chin, and in his hair. It looks like regular eczema or seborrhea. Once the peeling takes place, then the new skin is pink for a while and it is ok until next round. I have been using witch hazel to control it. I douse his beard and hair and give him a good going over which seems to keep it in control. Maybe the massage is good for the skin too. Thanks for all the imput!

 Re: Skin Symptoms
Debra,
As I mentioned in the post you provided a link to, we used prescription Elidel cream, which worked well on my dad's eczema. His problem looked very similar to what you are describing.
