Post John's long battle is over
John has passed away on 1/11/11. His long battle with this horrible disease is over and as everyone in this forum knows, they gave up so much in their lives to this disease. He was down to about 100 pounds, gave up the urge to swollow 5 days before passing. I will miss him terribly but I also feel at peace knowing that his suffering is over, it seems I have been grieving for the last 18 months over the life we had together. I have been checking into the forum over the past few months to see how everyone is doing and want to say that finding this forum and being part of it was the best thing I found. My friends will be making a donation to the Lewy Body foundation in John's memory. Thank you all for the support in valuable information that was obtained from this forum and all of you that are dealing with loved ones suffering from this illness, stay strong and take care of yourselves also.

B, I guess I never got to know you on the forum but can certainly appreciate your mixed feelings right now. To lose him is sad but to see him continue to suffer is sadder still. God bless you and give you strength. Hugs.

Thank you for the thoughtfulness of your memorial tribute. Your friends' contributions to honor John will do much good.

B, Take care of yourself, it will be a void that will never be filled, but knowing that John is no longer suffering has to bring some peace.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

B, having recently experienced the death of my dad, I know the mixed feelings - the sadness and the relief. Watching a LO suffer is no small task. It is agonizing. Knowing they are at peace now is like have a huge elephant lifted off of us. Take care of yourself. Lynn

B, You have been on the Forum through all the ups and downs of this illness. You have been taking good care of John for a long time. You came knowing very little but left here on these pages roadmarks for others to follow. Through it all you have been a good friend. I hope the messages of condolence will help as you walk through this sorrow. We all love you.

"See this lady she's 85 but she's nice", This is the way my husband, Mr B., introduced me in 2006 to the people only he knew. Death due to pneumonia. Lewy Body Dementia diagnosed post mortem at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida.
