A few days before my dad died he kept saying "get me out of here. I need to leave. I need someone to get rid of me. When are we going?" I wasn't sure if he was talking about dying or going to the Dairy Queen for a milkshake! I had talked with the nurses and read all the hospice info. and felt like it was the right time to have the conversation about moving on to the next life. He was very agitated so I told him to close his eyes, relax, and he'd see my mom, his mom, his best friends who would come for him. When he was ready, he could go with them. The rest of us were fine, we loved him and he'd made us strong, so just go with them when he sees my mom and the others. He was getting very relaxed, then he opened his eyes and very clearly said "that's baloney!". And there were my sister and I, crying and laughing at the same time. Lynn

That's funny. That's probably exactly what my mother would say.

I think one of the most unselfish things we can do for our loved ones is to truly let them go, as hard as it is for us! You have been a good daughter and loved your Mom , she has endured this illness a long time and let her be in charge of her end, the best you can do now is to be ther with her and let her feel the love.There is no right or wrong here, what she needs now is comfort and rest.
