going from solid food to mostly liquids
I hate to add another post, but I am curious, do people have a lot less solid waste when going from regular cut up food to liquids and things like apple sauce, canned sweet potatoes, peas etc. I think I get as much volume into mom as before but hardly anything comes out her bowls anymore.---Jack

Might be less solid waste from the bowels and more urine from the bladder.

Even a baby who drinks only milk has daily bowel movements. Are you sure she is not impacted?

yes I am sure she is empty, I gave her some dulcolax and she had the normal diarrhea, but not much came out. It might seem like a weird question, but I did not think that it would be so different. She drinks a lot of fluids, and urinates often. Just wanted some feedback---Jack

With fecal impaction, there is often diarrhea in small amounts. A nurse would be able to detect an impaction and possibly resolve it. I've done my share of disimpactions as an RN.

Ok, I will check it out, thank you. I will share my findings ---Jack
Well the first sentence was at 5:30 AM. Now it is 7:00 AM. I made an appt to have mom checked out for an impaction, then I got her up and put her on the portapotty like every morning. She rarely urinates in the toilet anymore but I put her on anyway. I saw a turd sticking out 1/2 inch and waited. Nothing after 10 minutes. I got her to bend forward and could feel a mass on the other side of her annis. I pushed on both sides between her cheeks gently and finally got some movement. When things started moving, one came out then another. Both big, but not big for mom. 6 inches long and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Soft and good color. It seems that the problem is that the turd is there but she can not let it out. Let me know any thoughts.---Jack
