 Re: Eyes shut
Thanks, Pat... That is exactly what I feared. Will I find what you suggested in an average pharmacy?

 Re: Eyes shut
I think so, Leone. You might have to look in the contact lens department for eye lubricants. If he has an eye doctor I would ask for a good OTC recommendation.

 Re: Eyes shut
Our eye dr. recommended the ones my husband and I use. But, Pat makes a good point about preservatives. They can really irritate some people's eyes. The 2 I talked about earlier work great for both of us and they are OTC. There are also prescription ones available, I think. Lynn

 Re: Eyes shut
I use GenTeal lubricant eye gel for Ken and it's great. He no longer washes or rubs his eyes or feels as if he has sand in them. I had the hardest time with eye drops: he would clench his eyes shut instead of opening them. Our doc suggested putting a drop of eye gel on the inside corner close to the eye and like magic it works it's way into his eye. So much easier and he no longer suffers with his eyes. I buy it at Costco.

 Re: Eyes shut
Sher, that sounds like an excellent product! My husband does the same thing, squeezing his eyes tightly shut when I try to put the drops in and most of it ends up on his cheeks. The gel would stay put better. I'll be going to Costco on Saturday and will look for GenTeal. Thank you!

 Re: Eyes shut
Pat, the last time I was at Costco I had to order it, they no longer carried it on the shelf but were able to get it for me- the maker is Novartis. They make drops and gel, I like the gel. It costs (here in So Cal) $7.95 and is the best 8 bucks I've ever spent! I apply it every night, sometimes I forget to do it before he goes to sleep, but since I don't have to open his eyes he never even wakes up. I hope it works for you. Sher

 Re: Eyes shut
Many in our local support group use GenTeal Severe Dry Eye gel lubricant. Not all stores seem to carry the Severe Dry Eye version.

 Re: Eyes shut
I just checked and the one I get at Costco is the Severe Dry Eye Relief. I'm in CA where we have Costco everywhere, do those of you back East have Costcos? Sher

 Re: Eyes shut
Yes, we do in Vermont, Delaware, MD and I am sure most other states on the east coast have them.

Re: Eyes shut - GenTeal eye drops
OOOPS..... I used GenTeal liquid gel drops on Dale's eyes last night. This morning, the skin all around his eyes is white. He has extremely sensitive skin. It looks like he may be allergic to GenTeal. He says it doesn't itch. He just looks like he has a Halloween mask on his eyes.
