Board of Directors
Our board is comprised of individuals whose lives have been touched by LBD as well as professionals with a deep dedication to our mission.
Angela Herron, president, is an independent business consultant with 25 years of experience in health care financial consulting. She was the founder of a national business consulting firm specializing in planning, development, and financial services to hospitals and health systems, medical groups, and other health care providers. She serves on the board of the Lone Star Chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association and resides in Dallas/Fort Worth with her husband, Jay.
Debbie McCoy-Massey, vice president, comes to LBDA with a passion for research that improves the human condition. In late 2007 she transitioned into a consulting role with clients involved in the philanthropic support of health research, after serving as the research program officer for the national Arthritis Foundation for 21 years. She also served as a primary caregiver for both her parents and is based in Atlanta, Ga.
Joe Whiteis, vice president, operates his own business in art direction, design, animation, print, web and multimedia communications and oversees the care of his mother who has LBD. Joe is based in Minneapolis, MN, has served on the board since 2008.
Nancy Silverman, secretary, is president of Wayloo, Inc., a global marketing firm in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., that specializes in recruitment and recognition campaigns for the federal government and global corporations. She previously served on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of South Florida and as chair of the Small Business Advisory Board for Miami Dade County. Nancy’s husband, Howard, passed away with LBD in 2008.
Stephen Lamb, treasurer, is president of Consultancy Resources Corp., a provider of business consulting services regarding metallurgy and corrosion issues. He has served as board chairman of Kyowva Goodwill Industries, responsible for a $4 million operation involving training handicapped personnel and assisting them back into the workplace. He holds a B.Sc. in metallurgy and an M.B.A. in finance, and resides in Huntington, W. Va.
Barbara Ann Bush provides consulting services to government agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations and healthcare-related businesses. Previously, she worked for 18 years as a clinical social worker and executive director of a multinational nonprofit health consultancy and was the primary in-home hospice caregiver for relatives. Barbara received her master's degree in pastoral services in social work from Loyola University in New Orleans.
James Galvin, M.D., began his service to LBDA as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council, where he continues to guide the association's scientific activities. He is a professor of neurology and psychiatry at New York University, where he is director of clinical operations at the Center of Excellence on Brain Aging and director of the Pearl Barlow Center for Memory Evaluation and Treatment. Jim’s experience with Lewy body dementia is both professional and personal, as his grandfather had both Parkinson’s and symptoms of Lewy body dementia.
Coleen Greco is a high-tech marketing veteran with more than 15 years of industry experience. In 2009, Coleen started the Allan D. Morrison 5K Run/Walk in Melrose, Mass., an annual race that raises research and awareness dollars for Lewy body dementia. She holds an M.B.A. in marketing from Northeastern University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She resides just west of Boston with husband, Stephen, and two sons, Christopher and Colin.
Miles Hurley is the founding partner of Hurley Elder Care Law, created to provide comprehensive legal solutions for families with age-related events. He received his J.D. degree from Georgia State University and is a founding member and vice president of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association, the chair of the Georgia chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a member of the State Bar of Georgia elder law section. Miles lives in Atlanta with his wife and three sons.
Alan J. Lerner, M.D., is a professor of neurology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a practicing neurologist with a specialty in dementia and neurobehavioral disorders. He conducts research in neurology and aging. His interest in Lewy body dementia focuses on mobilizing the research community to discover more about the basic biology of the disease, working toward therapies, and building community awareness.
